Recently I was asked by a beautiful person, what my favourite sounds were.... in that moment, I was surprised when I found it difficult to answer, i'd never actually taken the time to consciously make note of the sounds that make me smile. Since then, i've made list of my most favourite to share.

the sound of......

[rain] falling on the roof,  a [heart] beating, a crackling [fire], walking through [leaves] on the ground, the silence as [snow] falls, [waves] as they break on the shore at night time, [thunder], leaves [sighing] as wind rushes through the tree tops, the sound of a [baby] feeding from it's mothers breast, the watery [quiet] when I slide down deep underneath the surface of a bath.

They are mine.  I'd love to know yours..... x

Exploration and discovery is my [wish] for this New Year.

The world is so much [more] than what we see.

I want to learn to [see] parts of it which are not visible, I want to [re-explore] that which already exists, I want to [dream] and let my imagination run wild....

Sharing a photo, or two, each day here for the next month, will start me on my journey towards [re]discovery this year.  No themes, no restrictions..... just something beautiful to me.

my little corner...

Lately, in my little corner of the world things have been rather grand.  I have been quiet here, but elsewhere in my life I have been wonderfully busy.

[Spring] has brought warmth, sunshine and the sweetest of fragrances that linger in the air until twilight. We all know how much I adore the warmer weather - the sun kissing my skin and soaking into my bones renews my soul and ignites my creativity.

My new [adventure] has been more rewarding and satisfying than I could every have imagined.  Time spent close to home and interstate, meeting beautiful people, capturing beautiful moments. I have also been incredibly humbled by the support and mentoring I have received from other photographers along the way, thankyou x

Where did the last three years go?  [Ziggy], my baby boy, my last child, turned three late last month.  I'm yet to take his birthday portrait, something deep inside me keeps putting it off - I wanted him to stay 2 1/2 forvever.....

A little bit of [crafting], as always.  A fun couple of days spent at the last Niche Market - thankyou to everyone who bought my treasures and stopped by to say hello.

The longer days give me more time to play, and work, and create and love.  My head is full of ideas, and heart is filled with gratitude. I'm looking forward to sharing as much as I can with you all xx

inside

The clouds roll in, and cover the sky - a blanket of grey hangs overhead with just a sprinkling of rain.  The earth is sodden and the air crisp, although today I can't see my breath as I exhale.

A day spent inside, looking out - the skeletons of my birch trees glistening with rain drops.

A home filled with love, and warmth, and the aroma of freshly baked muffins.

A morning spent with friends - the sounds of laughter and the smell of coffee.  Children running, and playing, the echos of important conversations in little voices float from the hallway.

An afternoon of quiet - my friends have wandered to their homes, and my baby is asleep (although I fear he's almost not a baby anymore).  I pick up my yarn and hook and begin to watch my work grow - something for the Niche Market.  The stitches are beautifully defined, the piece soft and grey - a little darker grey than today's sky.

Although I look out the window - the rain has stopped and the sun is glowing through the clouds.  Maybe there will be a little color in my day afterall x

almost...

Morning frosts, rain and storms, wind and cold that chills you to the bone, you know the kind - when the only way to warm up is to lay in a steamy hot bath until you can feel your toes again!  This was our week. 

However, this morning brought blue skies and warmth.  A blissful surprise I have truly embraced.  We still have many more cold weeks ahead of us, but today is glorious enough to [almost] be mistaken for a mild summer day.
